The philosophy behind the establishment of this center, and earlier the Evidence-Based Medicine group since 2004, has been to promote evidence-based medicine, the logic, and the common language of contemporary global medicine among physicians in the country.
The Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) Research Center at Tehran University of Medical Sciences began as the Evidence-Based Medicine and Critical Thinking Group, conducting weekly EBM training sessions at Shariati Hospital. Under the leadership of Dr. Akbar Soltani, an endocrinologist and metabolism specialist, and with contributions from faculty members and medical students, the group was established within the Endocrinology and Metabolism Research Institute at Shariati Hospital.
